Moscow, RSFSR: It's the Soviet Union, 1961. Life is good. Thanks to wise management from the Central Committee, technological leaps, and discovery of oil reservoirs in the Urals, the economy is better than it's ever been. The Soviet Space Program has just sent a man into space, diverse investment into light industry have brought commodities to the average Russian household previously only possible in the West, and faith in the Soviet dream is at an all-time high. Family cars choke the streets, unemployment is next to nonexistent, and for the first time in a long time, everything seems right in the world, and it can only get better from here. Sure, the shadow of nuclear war hangs over the world, but the people have faith in the people in control that nothing will go wrong. Rapprochement with the West under Premier Kruschev's policies of deStalinization after the denouement of the Korean War has set the Doomsday Clock at 7 minutes to midnight, the furthest it's been since 1949, when the USSR successfully detonated their first atomic bomb. The mortals of the USSR go about their lives, plying their trades, blissfully unaware of the things that go bump in the night; such superstitions have no place in the heart of the New Soviet Man, and the only fear he has at the witching hour is a squadron of Interior Division troops breaking down his door at the behest of the KGB. They're wrong, though, and what you can't see can most definitely hurt you. For hundreds of years the Kindred of Russia have vied against the kine, against the Lupines, and most importantly, against themselves. You have a part to play in this, of course. The only question is: what part will you play, and for how long? - Leningrad by Night is a VTM 20th PBP server set in 1960s Leningrad, today known as St. Petersburg, where players are members of the Camarilla. It is a time of turbulence and strife, contrasting with the wonderment of the mortal world around them. Vampires who have been entrenched in Leningrad since the time of Peter the Great find their positions weakened and vulnerable, while those who found political leverage in the Soviet Revolution are increasingly eyed with scrutiny and jealousy by their lessers. Moreover, the Lupines of the Sept of Fafnir's Brood grow ever more aggressive and increasing interconnectedness between the cities of the USSR and its ally states allow ease of movement for Sabbat forces. Now is not the time for the Camarilla of Leningrad to rest on their laurels, lest they find themselves relegated to the dustbin of history, if anyone cares to remember them at all. Prelude: Modern New York is one of the main strongholds of the Camarilla, except for the fact that the Sabbat is constantly plotting and sieging the city. The last such siege attempt ended dearly for both the Ivory Tower and Sword Of Caine. The Anarch movement joining the battle helped turn the tide of battle towards the city, but, alas, at great cost. During the last Siege, the Prince, the Primogen Council, the Anarch Baron, the Archbishop leading the Siege and several Bishops died; this created a vacuum in the political power of all Sects, but, oddly enough, brought relative peace. Alas, at the current time no one has declared a desire to become the Prince of the city and declare Praxis. The anarchs effectively became the temporary rulers of the city, united with the Camarilla to maintain general order, in the coming nights there was to be a meeting of the night inhabitants of the city at which anyone could try to declare their rights to Praxis, it was also assumed that at this meeting a new Baron of Anarchs would be announced. Meanwhile, the Sabbat was licking its wounds, but still planning to take revenge on New York, its spies were still infiltrating the city, collecting all the information it needed for Sword Of Caine. It's only a matter of time before peacetime gives way to more bloodshed.
