The Soviet Space Program has just sent a man into space, diverse investment into light industry have brought commodities to the average Russian household previously only possible in the West, and faith in the Soviet dream is at an all-time high. Family cars choke the streets, unemployment is next to nonexistent, and for the first time in a long time, everything seems right in the world, and it can only get better from here. Sure, the shadow of nuclear war hangs over the world, but the people have faith in the people in control that nothing will go wrong. Rapprochement with the West under Premier Kruschev's policies of deStalinization after the denouement of the Korean War has set the Doomsday Clock at 7 minutes to midnight, the furthest it's been since 1949, when the USSR successfully detonated their first atomic bomb. The mortals of the USSR go about their lives, plying their trades, blissfully unaware of the things that go bump in the night; such superstitions have no place in the heart of the New Soviet Man, and the only fear he has at the witching hour is a squadron of Interior Division troops breaking down his door at the behest of the KGB. It is a time of turbulence and strife, contrasting with the wonderment of the mortal world around them. Vampires who have been entrenched in Leningrad since the time of Peter the Great find their positions weakened and vulnerable, while those who found political leverage in the Soviet Revolution are increasingly eyed with scrutiny and jealousy by their lessers. Moreover, the Lupines of the Sept of Fafnir's Brood grow ever more aggressive and increasing interconnectedness between the cities of the USSR and its ally states allow ease of movement for Sabbat forces. Now is not the time for the Camarilla of Leningrad to rest on their laurels, lest they find themselves relegated to the dustbin of history, if anyone cares to remember them at all.
