With a name like “Ability and Genetic Enhancement Labs,” most assumed they were simply working with genetically modified organisms. Which, albeit, was true, but not in the sense that the public had in mind. There was something more sinister happening within the walls of their facilities, hidden away from prying eyes. The Labs weren’t experimenting on plants or animals, no. They were experimenting on *humans.* The scientists working on the Labs’ Chimera Project had long been assured that no one would ever find out. They assumed that their secrets would be kept under lock and key until long after they were dead and gone. They assumed they would be free of the consequences of their heinous deeds. They assumed no one would ever escape to tell the tale. But then two subjects escaped. The resulting fallout led to a clerical error, leaving two experiments behind in an abandoned facility, leading to a domino effect of chaos for the company. A nearly year-long chase ended in a group of 9 escapees fleeing to the US. And to the Labs, that was going to be the end of that. But it wasn’t. Trace James, one of the escapees, formed an airtight case against the Labs, presenting it in court not long after the group settled in Los Soles, California. The unwavering evidence he provided, even in the very first days of the trial, led to the Canadian government demanding the release of the survivors. They were granted asylum in the US, and many have come to settle down in Los Soles, a city already sympathetic to the horrors they’d suffered.
