Remote locations for them to build their version of society and "thrive". The place they lived on is called the Titan, which was named the Titan because of its enormous size; the Titan was an old ship from the I-C class of star vessel. Trade is discouraged with these sanctums because of the dangers and potentially high tariffs. They can still be profitable for the nomadic scrap yards and merchants looking for an under the table buck. Otherwise, who owns what becomes essential, whoever builds the most, protects the most, and runs the most gets to control both the people and the power by intention or not. Your story is your own, but there's quite a bit above your head, too, as the districts change over time. Perhaps you will bring change yourself?
