The town, run and operated by a duly elected cabinet of officials, is protected from prying eyes by powerful wards that render it nearly undetectable to anyone outside their area of effect. However, all supernatural beings can feel a pull in their chest when nearby— a sensation that grows stronger the closer they are to the barrier that conceals the town from the outside world. To the majority of the mortal world, Le Touquet does not exist, nor has it ever existed. To maintain order and prevent rising tensions between feuding species, all individuals entering the ward surrounding Le Touquet are required by law to submit to blood testing to verify their status within the town. The specifics of these tests, and how they are conducted, remain a closely guarded secret. Rumors persist, however, of medical staff being bribed or threatened into falsifying results for powerful beings.
